We cut pieces from plastic containers and punched holes in them so that we could use them as little charms on necklaces or earrings. I started experimenting- sometimes it&#8217;s worth it to spend a little time experimenting before getting the kids involved.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"toc-2\">Types of Shrink Film<\/h3>\n<p>When the Shrinky Dink first starts to curl and then flattens out, it\u2019s a good indication that it\u2019s about to be finished. When heated, Shrinky Dinks reduce in size\u2014about 7 times smaller\u2014and thicken, which enhances their durability and makes them perfect for various creative projects. Originally popularized in the 1970s, they are often used in crafts to create miniature art pieces, jewelry, and decorations.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"toc-3\">Options for Buying Shrinky Dink Plastic:<\/h2>\n<p>Choose high-resolution images cropped to simple shapes so faces remain clear. Turning photographs into Shrinky Dinks charms lets you wear memories on bracelets, earrings, or necklaces. Kids love adding glitter paint for sparkle that survives the oven. You can also add reflective tape on the back to boost visibility at night. It\u2019s fun for crafters of all ages, so long as you can use an oven, OR if you are making Shrinky Dinks with young children, you can bake the pieces for them.<\/p>\n<p>You could make jewelry, game pieces, gift or pet <a href=\"https:\/\/shrinky-dink.com\/\">https:\/\/shrinky-dink.com\/<\/a> tags, magnets, ornaments, zipper pulls, tie tacks, bike plates, traced photos and key chains. The plastic sheets shrunk to nearly a third of their original size, and became many times thicker. My kids love carrying pocket-sized shrink dinks to carry around their pockets or add them to their endless cache of loose parts or special treasures.
